“Messenger” the popular messaging service by Facebook is going commerical. The Ad team in Facebook announced the roll out of the sponsored messages feature and drive more sales out of it.

Using the new advertising platform, Facebook enabled businesses to advertise directly to with highly-targeted customers, but instead of appearing in News Feeds as usual they’ll show up in Messenger threads.
Companies will send sponsored messages to people who have messaged them recently requesting information related to their brand or used the service recently.
Facebook didn’t mention if they will be able to distinguish between messages sent to automated chat bots and those sent to community managers. However, they revealed a new feature of normal ads in the News Feed, which will allow customers to chat directly with the brand doing the advertising.
Who can start using it?
Businesses that already have chat bots configured can start using the new sponsored messages feature immediately.
